I was asked to lend a hand and model for a Nepali wearable arts exhibition to be shown on 15 September 2006. These are some picks of the information and fitting evening, including the costumes each model is to wear - I will be wearing an impressionist wearable art costume as well as a Sri Lankan art sari.

The exhibition is to occur in an old Newari Palace with VIP attendance of diplomats based in Kathmandu. So, short girls can model;-}!!

Arrived in Kathmandu on 5 May 2006, the green and the cool so refreshing after Delhi.

First week with PBI involves orientations, meetings, sleep, eating and the most horrendous constipation to clog a colon.

Weekend of 14 May 2006, head for the hills on motorbike with Athena and Lucy C. Arrived in Nagarkot (photo) dripping, cold and tired (stayed at "Hotel at the End of the Universe", perched on a hill over Nagarkot). Hot showers, hot lemon in bed and then, once warm, down to the restaurant for tea.

Sunday meant going for a long walk, coming across a bakery that sold chocolate brownies, sipping coffee (with the view in the pic of the Himalayas). I adopted a street puppy for a short while, naming it "Sushi", she followed us around Nagarkot for some time and then was distracted by some other interest.

Athena and Lucy C. drank beer in the afternoon, while I drank Nepali tea, playing cards on top of a hill in the foothills of the Himalayas.

Monday morning, breakfast in bed at 6am, then hour and a half motorbike back to Kathmandu and the Human Rights House.

31st Birthday in India

Night before...

Given a pedicure and head massage after three days of brain gymnastics whilst researching indigenous and minority rights in Asia for Rita Manchanda. Ahhh...my feet feel alive and like buzzy bees (if have not tried, should try a pedicure - even better when coming from a loved one)!

Morning of the 23 April 2006...

Woke, slightly tired from the three proceeding days...where's my breakfast in bed! Paari (Reema's young housekeeper) wishes me "Happy Birthday, Lucy Didi" with her biggest beautiful grin and her loudest voice we have heard yet.

Afternoon...

Taken out to lunch by kala and Reema to a Chinese restaurant in Haus Khas. Then returning home, kala, Reema and I sat and watched "My Fair Lady" whilst doing our own "english" interpretations of one another.

In the evening...

I dressed up in a beautiful sari and was taken out for drinks (I try a "Blue Lagoon", kala has a "Daiquiri") and ice cream by one Ms Sreekala MG. The restaurant places candles around the ice cream platter, which has seven different types of ice cream and is surrounded in cherries..., afterwards, on the way home, was bought a huge bouquet of white roses with a hint of pink... Our night ending with large drops of rain and a spectacular thunder and lightening storm whilst we ran to find a rickshaw.....I had hoped it would rain.

Major jetlag from flying right round the world to get to a little place called Wustrow in Germany. Training was at the Kurve Centre in Wustrow, West Germany. Bitterly cold, snowed on the second or third day.

Agra, at the Taj Mahal with kala and the little Witchy Aussie Woman (and her story):

Once upon a time there was a truely amazing woman called Kala - short for caring lady - who was terribly busy travelling far and wide to save the world's oppressed and downtrodden people. In her spare time she would visit and care for her old and ill parents. Where she travelled there was little or no access to the magic wires that would bring her close to her far away true love who lived in the Land of Mixedup Phonics and was called Licey - or Lucy as the rest of the world would say. Anyway Licey was a very lovely (some even said wonderful and truely beautiful) and very itchy lady ... had ants in her pants and found it very hard to be in the place she was at cos she was really really missing the dear world saving Kala lady. But when you have ants in your pants it can make you feel very very cross and the cure for that sort of crossness is to have a big big blowup at someone close to you and/or even.... very far away from you. A big big blowup makes you feel a big bit better for a while .. until the itching starts up again ... but strangely enough it has the very opposite effect on the good and kind and, I might add, unsuspecting receivee of the blowup. Whoosh-Wham- whallop ... out goes the crossness feeling from the itchy Licey lady and Ouch-What-The-Hell-Was-That-For feeling goes straight down the wire into the unsuspecting Kala lady. So what is the solution to this ? Time to change your pants Licey lady!!!! Or make a blowup of Kala lady which you can blowup at when you are itchy.
